Flatirons Wine Cooler Repair repairs Sub-Zero wine columns and undercounter wine units, and the refrigerators and freezers beside them. When a zone will not hold its number, we measure among the bottles before naming a part.

Steady matters more than cold
What upsets wine is movement: every warm spell expands it against the cork, and every cool one draws it back. A zone that sits at 55° all week treats a bottle better than one that averages 55° by swinging several degrees either side.
So on a wine call we record the swing first, not the average.
Planned power shutoffs
Boulder’s power cuts can come with notice
- 6 April 2024
- Xcel switched off about 55,000 customers, mostly in Boulder County, ahead of forecast high winds. About 2,000 were still without power on 9 April.
- 17 and 19 December 2025
- Two more shutoffs, the second wider than the first.
The notice is the useful part: the hours before the cut decide how warm the bottles get, and the checks afterwards catch a small fault early.

Single zone, dual zone
One zone or two: reading the panel
A single-zone unit holds one temperature throughout. A dual-zone unit has two compartments, each with its own control. Sub-Zero’s classic dual-zone wine units leave the factory at 45°F above and 55°F below; its Designer wine storage can be set anywhere from 40°F to 65°F.
- One zone off, the other fine
- Look inside that zone: its sensor, its fan, bottles against its back wall.
- Both zones off together
- Look at what they share: the door seal, airflow at the base, the power.
Before you call
Do you also repair the refrigerator beside the wine column?
Yes. Sub-Zero refrigerators, freezers and the ice makers inside them are the other half of our work here. If more than one unit needs a look, say so when you call and the visit is planned for both. Faults and prices are on our refrigerator repair page.
Should I set the wine zones colder before a planned shutoff?
The City of Boulder tells residents to turn refrigerators and freezers colder before a shutoff, which is sound advice for food. For wine, a small step down within your usual range is harmless; a big drop gains little. Note each setting first.
The panel shows the usual number but the bottles feel warm. Which is right?
Believe a probe before the panel or your hand. The panel gives the control’s own figure; a probe between two bottles mid-zone shows what the wine is at. If they differ by over two degrees for a whole day, call us.
What happens to the $89 if I go ahead with the repair?
It is credited. The $89 pays for the trip and a complete diagnosis. You hear the repair price before any work starts, and once you accept it the $89 comes off that bill. Decide against the repair and the $89 is all you pay.
